Reconstruction Reflection

I have learned alot from this unit on Reconstruction. Reconstruction was the period after the Civil War when the Confederacy was rejoining the Union. Some of the thing that I learned that the economic position in the Union was not good during that period of time. Many of the African-Americans only had the skills that involved farming and house work. They also did not have an education. So the 3 main jobs that they could do during Reconstruction where Yeoman farming, Tenenant farming, or becoming a Sharecropper. The African-Americans where not the only people affected by Reconstruction. Many other people lost money. During Reconstruction there was an organization called the Freedman's Bureau. They knew that times where hard so they gave poor blacks and whites medical help, clothing, food, and legal advice. Reconstruction lasted for many devastating years.
